Customer service in the 21st century

If you saw my IG post from a few days ago… you saw that I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect living room area rug. Like blood, sweat, and tears type of hunting. Okay, not really. But I’ve spent an exorbitant and embarrassing amount of my time searching.

If you’re interested in my search, read from here (a lot of you asked about certain rugs, or gave opinions…so I kind of laid it all out here)…But if you just want a good chuckle….go ahead and skim to the end.

My third rug (I believe) was this beauty from a third party seller through Amazon:

At first, I was REALLY loving it. But, once I changed up the artwork and knew which direction I wanted to head with a total feel of the room…I decided it was too beige and yellow and a little too “grandma” for what I’m wanting. (Maybe it’s just these photos …but I swear it cast the whole room in a pee color.)  It was however, a big step up from…

If I had loved it, I would have just gone up in size…but even at this size, the pattern became so pixelated and computerized that I was super disappointed, and knew that problem would only get worse when going larger.

I then literally tried like 5 more. SO RIDICULOUS.

(this is not all of them. Some I returned before taking pictures, and I cannot find online.)

With this being my winner, and the one I am currently waiting to be restocked. If it comes and I hate it…I will probably just curl up in a ball and cry 😉

I wanted something fun, whimsical, and a little Southwestern. With all my browns (which I am NOT used to…) I had to get some color in there. No matter how much I want to be on trend, and look like someone right out of an UO catalog… I have to stick with what makes me ME…and that’s color.

ANYWAY, I digress…

I could go on and on about rug shopping…and wish I had some helpful tips to all of you out there. But seriously, all I’ve learned from this experiencing is that I am deflated, online shopping is great until it’s not, and large area rugs are HEAVY.

SOOOOOOOOOO…..Let me all take you on a little adventure that might help us all smile a bit. If I can get maybe one laugh out of someone, then this experience will have been worth it. (or maybe I’m alone in that!)

I recently purchased this Coffee Table from target:

And when I decided to return this rug:

I realized I had already used it’s packaging to return the blue rug. OMG. Think of how much money I could make if I were getting paid for this nonsense. This is why you need to be passionate and dedicated when creating your “nooks”, it ain’t easy, but it’s worth it….unless it’s not. but to me, it is.

SO, when my brother was in town, I had him help me package my beautiful floral rug folded up nicely- right inside the box the coffee table had come in. There was a nice big picture of the table outside of the box, but I can quote myself as we taped the thing shut, “Man! So glad I didn’t throw this out yet. It’s like this box was MADE for this rug!” and then I believe we congratulated each other on our packaging skills with a nice big high five. Yes, we are cool like that.

We then headed off to FedEx, and checked one more thing off our “to-do” list.

If only it had been so easy.

Please let me introduce you to mine and my friend’s e-mail chain:

And there you have it guys!

(Or are they really five different people?) We may never know…Just like I may never get my Restocking fee back.

At one point in this WEEK long saga, (seriously- took them a WEEK to open the Box) my five year old who was obviously concerned at how hysterically funny I was finding my phone these days, turned to me and said “Mom, Why don’t you just send them a knife?!” At first my jaw hit the floor and I wondered where I had gone wrong in my parenting… and then I realized her intentions…and knew I had in fact created a genius that surpassed the knowledge of an entire rug company!

See why I better LOOOOOOVE the rug I ordered last? It’s do or die now people.

This I why my house looks like it does because I most certainly would have sent them a knife but without the intention of ever opening the box. Glad we have the ability to laugh.
